The Action

The figure above shows diagnosis of HIV infections among three races and ages as of 2018. The data was acquired from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) 2018.

The figures and statistics displayed throughout this site apply mostly to young black MSM. The older generations of PLWHA (mostly 55 years and above) are often more medically adherent than young people. There are several strategies that medical practitioners can use to improve adherence among black MSM today. Such include; better treatment plans, improved regimen selection, and motivation of patients.

In regimen selection, fixed doses and once per day doses should be prioritized where possible. Also, medics should liaise with researchers to design drugs with few or no side effects. Under the treatment plans, medics should some up with reminder programs that are friendly to the young people today, for example; pill boxes, mobile phone reminders and applications. In addition, the number and size of pills should be adjusted to suit young people better (King, et, al 2012). Lastly, positive motivation can be used to improve adherence among black MSM. One of the key ways is by emphasizing the importance of adherence to the patients for instance better health and suppression of the virus. if medics keep talking about these two factors patients would start being more adherent. Also, families should be educated on the negative effects of stigmatization which when reduced can improve the rate of adherence significantly.
